These are right triangles...so we can use the pythagorean theorem
a^2 + b^2 = c^2....where a and b are the legs and c is the hypotenuse.

(a) 3^2 + 7^2 = c^2
      9 + 49 = c^2
      58 = c^2....here we take the sqrt of both sides, eliminating ^2
      sqrt 58 = c
      7.6 = c <== the missing side is 7.6 cm.

(b) 25^2 + 15^2 = c^2
      625 + 225 = c^2
      850 = c^2
     sqrt 850 = c
     29.2 = c <== the missing side is 29.2 cm

Fill in the table using this function rule. Y=-5x-1
Vaselesa [24]

The function rule for the equation y = -5x - 1 is

(x,y) ⇒ (0,-1) , (-1,4) , (3,-16)

<h3>What is dependent variable and independent variable ?</h3>

In a mathematical equation independent variable is set by us to examine the give equation or function how it is behaving or it's value for a specific value being set by us.We can also think of independent variable as the input to a function and dependent variable as the output.

According to the given question

y = -5x -1 the table is illustrated below

x    -2    -1     0     1      2     3

y     9     4    -1    -6    -11    -16

Ishi bought a canvas and 6 tubes of paint for $24.45. If the canvas cost $6.45, what equation would represent this problem?
DedPeter [7]

$24.95−$6.95=$18. Thus 8 tubes of paint cost $18.

$188=$2.25 for 1 tube of paint.

Explanation:

Once you remove the cost of the canvas from the total price, you're left with only the cost of the 8 tubes of paint.

This is represented by

$24.95−$6.95=$18

If 8 tubes of paint cost $18, then all we have to do is divide 18 by 8 to get the cost of each individual tube of paint.

Thus

$188=$2.25

is the cost for one tube of paint.

Hope this is helpful to you..
