Why do some people say that minor parties benefit the american political system?

The answer is:

Minor parties are significant in American politics, despite the fact that the majority of Americans do not support them. Election results can be influenced by minor parties. Their candidate can be well-liked in particular areas or regions and have the potential to deny the leading candidates a sizable portion of the popular vote. This has occurred numerous times throughout history. For instance, in the year 2000, Al Gore, the Democratic nominee, lost support to Ralph Nader and the Green Party. Local and state elections may also experience this.

A minor party is a political party that participates in politics and elections in a lesser capacity than a big party, often to the point of becoming negligible. The membership numbers, donations, and candidates that tiny parties and large parties are able to produce or attract can differ so drastically from one another.

Some observers say minor parties benefit the American political system because Minor parties can bring attention to new issue areas.

More about minor parties:

Single-issue, splinter, and ideological economic protesting parties, can act as a spoiler in American politics. Also known as third parties, these tiny political parties are typically centred on a single subject.

Its 4 types are

  • Splinter Parties: Split-off groups from one of the major parties (generally are short-lived) Examples: Bull Moose, Progressive Party, American Independent Party
  • Single-issue Parties: Parties founded around a "SINGLE" topic that resonates with their supporters (are typically short-lived because events have moved on, their campaign themes haven't resonated with voters.) Examples: Know Nothing Party, Free-soil Party Peace
  • Economic Protest Parties: Parties without a strong ideological foundation that are rooted in hard times. Identify their 'enemies' (Wall Street, railroad, foreign imports) Examples: Greenback Party, People's Party
  • Ideological Party: Political group dedicated to a certain set of ideals or ideologies. Eg. Marxist

Lunna [17]
“Four factors determine the truthfulness of a theory or explanation: congruence, consistency, coherence, and usefulness. A true theory is congruent with our experience – meaning, it fits the facts. It is in principle falsifiable, but nothing falsifying it has been found”
