The elimination of a predator from an ecosystem might result in starvation amongst its prey because there will be an increase in the prey population causing the depletion of the available food sources.

In an ecosystem, the relationship between two different species called prey and predator is of immense importance having consequential effects on each other.

In this interaction, the animal which eats prey is called a predator while the other is known as prey.

For example, fox and rabbit, grasshopper and leaf lion and zebra.

If the population of lions eliminates, then the population of zebra will decrease.

Zebras feed on grass which would lead to the depletion of food sources and ultimately starvation amongst the species of zebra will occur.
