The 154 floor Burj-Al-Arab hotel constructed between 1994 and 1999 gives;

a. Approximately 78,892 hours

b. 8

c. 35 meters

d. Vicky

<h3>What equations can be used to calculate distance and time?</h3>

The duration of the construction = 1999 – 1994 = 5 years

Number of floors = 154

Height of each floor = 5 m.

a. If the construction started 2 years earlier and the completion date was 2 years later, we have;

Number of hours in a year ≈ 8765.8

Number of years = 2 + 5 + 2 = 9

Total number of hours = 9 × 8765.8 ≈ 78,892

  • The construction of the Burj-Al-Arab will take approximately 78,892 hours

b. Given that floors 1 – 8 are occupied by hotels, the number of floors occupied by hotels and restaurants is<u> 8</u>

c. The number of floors between the first and eight floor is 8 - 1 = 7

The distance, <em>D</em>, they will cover going to the 8th floor from the first floor is therefore;

  • D = 7 × 5 meters = 35 meters

d. The speed of John's lift = 2 m/s

Vicky's lift speed = 3 m/s

Distance from the 8th to the 26th floor = 5 meters × (26 - 8) = 170 meters

  • Time = Distance/Speed

John's time = (170 m)/(2 m/s) = 85 s.

Vicky's arrival time = (170 m)/(3 m/s) ≈ 56.7 s

John arrived in 85 seconds while Vicky arrived in approximately 56.7 seconds, therefore;

  • Vicky arrived earlier and has to wait for John

Sophia uses 18 beads to make a necklace. Three sixths of the beads are purple. How many beads are purple?
joja [24]

Answer:

9 beads are purple

Step-by-step explanation:

we know that

To find out how many  beads are purple, multiply the total beads by the fraction of the beads that are purple

so

18(\frac{3}{6})=9\ beads

therefore

9 beads are purple

Another way to solve the problem is convert the fraction in percentage

we have

\frac{3}{6}=\frac{1}{2}=0.50*100=50\%

so

If the total are 18 beads

50% is 9 beads

therefore

9 beads are purple

Solve for x and justify your answer
Scorpion4ik [409]
The answer is 51°.

The top two lines are parallel to each other. Therefore alternate interior angles theorem applies. The bottom right corner that is underneath the line (for lack of a better description) is also 58°.

We also know that a triangle equals 180°. So 58+71= 129°.

So to find that missing angle we subtract 129 from 180 to get the 51°.

Jaxon Rollison
faust18 [17]

Answer:

6200

Step-by-step explanation:

first find how much she would make purely based on hours worked:

8x40 = 320 dollars

next subtract this from total on her paycheck so 692-320 is 372

we know that 372 is 6% of a number so...

\frac{6}{100} x = 372

\frac{6x}{100} = 372

6x= 37200(100)

x=6200 $ divide by 6

so she sold $6200 worth of merchandise to earn $372 of commission
