  2. Hemorrhoids and rectal fissures: swollen veins around the anus or tears in the skin of the anus .
  3. Rectal prolapse: rectum protrudes outside the anus

Constipation is the infrequent or incomplete passage of stool, usually, fewer than three bowel movement in a week  The stool is hard and can be difficult to pass. Common causes of constipation including inadequate fiber and fluid intake, medication, depression, bed rest or physical inactive condition.  

Constipation is one of the most common gastrointestinal complaints among those over age 65 years old, especially older women. It is important to provide effective therapy and treatment to avoid serious complications in elderly patients. Some complications that may happen including fecal impaction, hemorrhoids, and rectal prolapse.

The best treatment for constipation patient is changing diet and lifestyle. Drink enough fluids, increase fiber food and doing physical activities. However, some patients also need medications.
