Though the USA is federal at the federal stage, there are provisions for democracy at the state and nearby stages.

Democracy is "Of the humans, with the aid of the human beings, for the people" Abraham Lincoln. The word democracy comes from the Greek words "demos", meaning people, and "Kratos" which means power; so democracy may be the concept as "power of the humans": a way of governing that depends on the desire of the human beings.

The idea of Democracy The Webster New Encyclopaedic Dictionary (1995) defines democracy as a government wherein the best power is invested within the humans and exercised with their aid of them without delay or circuitously via illustration.

Republic: "A nation wherein preferred power is held by using the humans and their elected representatives..." Democracy: "A gadget of government by way of the whole population or all the eligible individuals of a nation, generally thru elected representatives."
