A human fetus develops at the mother’s body temperature. At birth, most newborns experience a drop in temperature, and their bodies must quickly do something about it. What they do is the same thing a hibernating mammal does as it rouses itself from its winter "snooze." During hibernation, an animal’s body temperature is low. In order to move about and take care of itself once awake again, the animal that has been hibernating must raise its body temperature. (William k. Purves et al., life: the science of biology) The definition is the primary pattern of organization in this passage.

This passage is explaining the process of hibernation and its importance in the animal life cycle.

Nucleus - stores cell's DNA; DNA replication occurs here

Ribosome - produce protein; "factories" of the cell

Mitochondria - breaks down food for energy to be used by the cell; "powerhouse" of the cell

Vacuole - store materials such as food, water, sugar, minerals, and waste products

What three elements do all macromolecules share? Explain how the chemical properties of lipids, nucleic acids, proteins, and ami
Natasha2012 [34]

Answer

Macromolecules in human body

The macromolecules found in human body are:

1. Carbohydrate,

2. Proteins

3. Lipids, and

4. Nucleic acids.

Elements they common share

All these macromolecules have three elements in common which are:

1. Carbon

2. Hydrogen, and

3. Oxygen.

These elements constitute about 95% of human body.

Difference in Chemical properties

Carbohydrate is composed of glucose monomers, which may have aldehyde functional group or ketone functional group. Protein is composed of monomers called amino acids. Each amino acid has carboxylic functional group, amino group, alkyl or aryl group and hydrogen atom. Lipid is composed of fatty acids and glycerol. While nucleic acid is composed of monomer called nucleotide. Each nucleotide is composed of pentose sugar, phosphate group and nitrogenous group. Due to the presence of different functional groups all these macromolecules have chemical properties different from each one
