Briefly explain why only chromosomes of a homologous pair can have their alleles referred toas homozygous or heterozygous

This is due to the fact that only homologous chromosomes would have identical genes located at identical sites on those chromosomes. Otherwise, there would be no connection between the alleles of various genes.

Although the genes and loci of the two members of the homologous pair are similar, the alleles may vary.For instance, both allele possess the genes responsible for the attribute of eye colour. While the one has alleles for the blue-eye trait, other has alleles for the brown-eye trait. The homologous chromosomes are said to be heterozygous in this instance since the alleles are different.

On the other hand, when both alleles for a gene that codes for the blue-eye phenotype are present, it is said to be homozygous.

slava [35]

Answer:

If we try to construct a genetic map of two linked marker loci in the centromeric regions then we find that there will be low recombination frequencies. Through this pattern we can draw a relation between the genetic map with its physical map that the markers are quite close to one another.

List these events in the correct order for CSF flow in the CNS. a: CSF flows into the arachnoid villi b: CSF enters the blood c:
alex41 [277]

Answer:

E-----> C------>D------->A------->B

Explanation:

The cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) is the fluid of the central nervous system. It allows for buoyancy as the brain is immersed in the fluid, protection, excretion of waste products from the brain and many more. The production of CSF is by the CHORIOD PLEXUS  in the lateral, third and fourth ventricles. The CSF flows through the interventricular foramen from the lateral to the third ventricle and from the third ventricle into the fourth ventricle through the cerebral aqueduct which connects them. The CSF then flows into the subarachnoid space. Absorption of CSF into the blood is by the arachnoid villi and then the CSF enters the blood.

Simora [160]
There are number of endemic species, because island isolation promotes allopatric speciation and the latter occurs when species become separated from each other to the level that prevents genetic recombination.

2.01 Properties of Water Lab Report
IrinaK [193]

Answer: The main properties of water are its polarity, cohesion, adhesion, surface tension, high specific heat, and evaporative cooling.

Water has the unique ability to dissolve many polar and ionic substances. This is important to all living things because, as water travels through the water cycle, it takes many valuable nutrients along with it! Water has high heat capacity.
