Xe, and to a limited extent Kr, form compounds, because Krypton, xenon, and radon are heavier noble gases with outer electrons that have lower ionization energies (IEs) than the heavier noble gases helium, argon, and neon. As a result, their ionization energy is reduced to a level that allows stable species to form with a few highly electronegative elements, like fluorine.

Xenon (Xe), a chemical element, is a heavy, incredibly rare gas belonging to Periodic Table Group 18 (noble gases). As a real chemical substance, it was the first noble gas discovered. Xenon is a colorless, flavorless gas that is more than 4.5 times heavier than air. There aren't many commercial applications for xenon. It is used to produce ultraviolet light in high-pressure arc lamps and photographic flash lamps, stroboscopic lamps, high-intensity arc lamps for motion picture projection, and other devices (solar simulators).

The electron's attraction to the nucleus is weaker in large-sized Xenon. Fluorine that is both extremely electronegative and tiny reacts with it (and oxygen). As a result, fluorine attracts the valence electron of Xe (or oxygen). This promotes the synthesis of compounds.

How does the amount of carbon dioxide affect the rate of photosynthesis?
julsineya [31]

Answer:

There are several ways of measuring the rate of photosynthesis in the lab. These include:

the rate of oxygen output

the rate of carbon dioxide uptake

the rate of carbohydrate production

These are not perfect methods as the plant will also be respiring, which will use up some oxygen and carbohydrate and increase carbon dioxide output.

Several factors can affect the rate of photosynthesis:

light intensity

carbon dioxide concentration

temperature

The amount of chlorophyll also affects the rate of photosynthesis:

plants in lighting conditions unfavourable for photosynthesis may synthesise more chlorophyll, to absorb the light required

the effects of some plant diseases affect the amount of chlorophyll, and therefore the ability of a plant to photosynthesise

hope it helps you

A solution that has a pOH of 5.36 is-
sdas [7]

Answer:

Option D

Explanation:

A solution is neutral if it contains equal concentrations of hydronium and hydroxide ions; acidic if it contains a greater concentration of hydronium ions than hydroxide ions; and basic if it contains a lesser concentration of hydronium ions than hydroxide ions.

A common means of expressing quantities, the values of which may span many orders of magnitude, is to use a logarithmic scale.

The hydroxide ion molarity may be expressed as a p-function, or pOH.

pOH = −log[OH−]

Basic solutions are those with hydronium ion molarities less than 1.0 × 10−7 M and hydroxide ion molarities greater than 1.0 × 10−7 M (corresponding to pH values greater than 7.00 and pOH values less than 7.00).

The reaction of Fe₂O₃ with CO produces Fe(s) and CO₂(g). What mass of Fe₂O₃ is required to produce 5.00 kg of Fe(s) if the perce
irina [24]

Answer:

2.75g

Explanation:

Firstly, we write a balanced equation of the reaction.

Fe2O3(s)+3CO(g)-->2Fe(s)+3CO2(g).

Now, we write the formula for the percentage yield.

Percentage yield = Actual yield/theoretical yield * 100%

From the equation, we can see that we have one unknown

We convert the 5kg to g. It must be known that 5kg is 5000g as 1kg equals 1000g.

Now, we are asked to calculate the mass of the iron iii oxide required.

From the balanced equation we can see that 1 mole of iron trioxide yielded 2 moles of Fe.

Now, let’s calculate the mass required. We calculate the actual number of moles of iron produced. This is the mass of iron divided by the molar mass. The atomic mass of iron is 56 amu. The number of moles of iron produced is 5000/56 moles

Since the mole ratio is 1 to 2, the number of moles of iron trioxide thus used is 5000/56 divided by 2 which equals 5000/112 moles.

Now, we proceed to calculate the mass of iron trioxide used. The mass is equal the molar mass multiplied by the number of moles. The molar mass of iron trioxide is 2(56) + 3(16) = 112 + 48 = 160g/mol

The mass thus required to produce 5kg of iron is 5000/112 * 160 which is 3,500g or 3.5kg. We know this to be the theoretical mass, the actual mass is calculated using the formula given above.

78.5 = actual mass/3.5 * 100

Actual mass = (3.5 * 78.5) /100

= 2.75g
