Alpha particle  ( q=+2e, m =4u) and proton head directly towards each other at an initial speed of 0.003c their distance of closest approach is  1.5 × 10⁻¹⁴ m

The charge on the proton = e

the charge on the alpha particle = 2e

mass of proton = mp = 1.67 × 10⁻²⁷ kg

mass of alpha particle = ma = 4mp = 6.68 × 10⁻²⁷ kg

the distance is given as :

r = (k2e² ( mp + ma) )/ 2 ma mp vp²

r = (9 × 10⁹ × 2 ( 1.67 × 10⁻²⁷ )² (  1.67 × 10⁻²⁷  + 6.68 × 10⁻²⁷) ) / ( 2(6.68 ×

                                                       10⁻²⁷ × 1.67 × 10⁻²⁷ (0.003 × 3 × 10⁸)²

r = 1.5 × 10⁻¹⁴ m

Thus, Alpha particle and proton head directly towards each other at an initial speed of 0.003c their distance of closest approach is  1.5 × 10⁻¹⁴ m

Briefly explain why an unbalanced chemical equation cannot fully describe a reaction?
zubka84 [21]

From the conservation of mass, matter is not created nor destroyed. So ponder it this way, for example I put one piece of toast in a toaster, but when it is done I had two pieces, that makes no sense right? Same thing with a chemical reaction but in molecular terms, all things must stay constant. If you put a convinced amount you have to get that quantity back, not less or not more in broad terms.

Convert 7.1x10^25 molecules of water to moles
ruslelena [56]

Answer:

<h2>117.94 moles</h2>

Explanation:

To find the number of moles in a substance given it's number of entities we use the formula

n =  \frac{N}{L} \\

where n is the number of moles

N is the number of entities

L is the Avogadro's constant which is

6.02 × 10²³ entities

From the question we have

n =  \frac{7.1 \times  {10}^{25} }{6.02 \times  {10}^{23} }  \\  = 117.940199...

We have the final answer as

<h3>117.94 moles</h3>

Hope this helps you
