-1 17/20 and -1 8/10 can be compared easily if we give them common denominators. If we multiply the second fraction by 2, both fractions will have a denominator of 20.
8 * 2 = 16
10 * 2 = 20
New fraction: 16/20
-1 17/20 vs. - 1 16/20
-1 16/20 (-1 8/10) is greater. (For negative numbers, you can tell which one is greater by determining which one is closest to zero.)
Her estimate is not reasonable.
Since she estimated 69%, you could do either of these options. You could...
A. Divide 242 (or .5) to show how much half off would be, then compare her estimate with half of 242 (121). OR...
B. Simply divide 242 by 69% (.69) and compaor her estimate to the exact amount (166.98).

Hey there! :D
When a fraction is still divisible by a number, then it is not in it's simplest form.
For example, 3/6.
I know for a fact that 6/3=2 <== 3 is also divisible by itself.
3/6 (3/3=1) (6/6=1)
1/2 <== simplest form.
Try the same with 2/4.
4 is divisible by 2.
4/2= 2
2/2=1
1/2 is the simplest form.
I hope this helps!
