The Great Compromise addressed disagreements over federal representation by A) creating a bicameral legislature.

What did the Great Compromise do?

The Great Compromise was a compromise between the Vir-ginia Plan and the New Jersey plan which had called for large states to have more representation, and for equal representation respectively.

The Great Compromise solved the issue by creating a bicameral legislature where one house (Senate) would be equally represented and the other House (House of Representatives) would be proportional.

In conclusion the Great Compromise created a bicameral legislature to stop arguments on federal representation.

How did the role of religion differ between feudal Japan and feudal Europe
uysha [10]
That's an interesting question. Feudal Japan had a more formalized and ritualized kind of culture than feudal Europe did; elaborate rules of courtesy applied at all levels of society, whereas European peasants were pretty crude for the most part. In both societies there was a unifying religious principle, which in Europe was Christianity and the authority of the Church, and in Japan was shintoism and the authority of the Emperor. In both cases, a social hierarchy attempted, with considerable success, to control everyone's lives; everyone owed their fealty to someone, except for the kings in Europe or the Emperor in Japan, who didn't owe loyalty to anyone, since there was no higher authority (at least, not counting deities). Both societies had similar types of weaponry (European armor was considerably tougher) and skilled swordsmen were much to be feared and respected. In the lower classes, life was cheap. Neither society had any concept of human rights; only the nobility had rights.

Match each of the following Puritan values with the quote that best demonstrates that value.
sasho [114]

Puritan values: Piety

 • 1. "But if our hearts shall turn away, so that we will not obey, but shall be seduced, and worship other Gods, our pleasure and profits, and serve them; it is propounded unto us this day, we shall surely perish out of the good land whither we pass over this vast sea to possess it" (Winthrop 14).

Puritan values: Courage

 • 2. "But here I cannot but stay and make a pause, and stand half amazed at this poor people's present condition; and so I think will the reader, too, when he well considers the same. Being thus passed the vast ocean, and a sea of troubles before in their preparation (as may be remembered by that which went before), they had now no friends to welcome them nor inns to entertain or refresh their weather-beaten bodies; no houses or much less towns to repair to, to seek for succor" (Bradford 5).

Puritan values: Industry

 • 3. "And of these in the time of most distress, there was but six or seven sound persons, who, to their great commendations be it spoken, spared no pains, night nor day, but with abundance of toil and hazard of their own health, fetched them wood, … made their beds, washed their loathsome clothes, clothed and unclothed them; in a word, did all the homely and necessary offices for them which dainty and queasy stomachs cannot endure to hear named; and all this willingly and cheerfully, without any grudging in the least, showing herein their true love unto their friends and brethren" (Bradford 8).
