The force exerted by the seat on the child at the lowest point is 700 N

What is Moment ?

The moment is the product of a force and its perpendicular distance. It is measured in Nm

Given that a 40.0-kg child swings in a swing supported by two chains, each 3.00m long. The tension in each chain at the lowest point is 350N .

Since it is given that we should ignore the mass of the seat, the only force acting downward will be the weight of the child.

One of the criteria to reach equilibrium is that, sum of the upward forces will be equal to the sum of the downward forces. Otherwise, the child will tuple.

The force exerted by the seat on the child at the lowest point will the two upward forces on the tension. That is,

F = 350 + 350

F = 700 N

Therefore, the force exerted by the seat on the child at the lowest point is 700 N

Answer: option 1 : the electric potential will decrease with an increase in y

Explanation: The electric potential (V) is related to distance (in this case y) by the formulae below

V = kq/y

Where k = 1/4πε0

Where V = electric potential,

k = electric constant = 9×10^9,

y = distance of potential relative to a reference point, ε0 = permittivity of free space

q = magnitude of electronic charge = 1.609×10^-19 c

From the formulae, we can see that q and k are constants, only potential (V) and distance (y) are variables.

We have that

V = k/y

We see the potential(V) is inversely proportional to distance (y).

This implies that an increase in distance results to a decreasing potential and a decrease in distance results to an increase in potential.

This fact makes option 1 the correct answer

Speed of light

According to Einstein, the speed of light is constant in all points of reference. In addition, he pointed out the speed of light is the maximum speed known since in practice one can never catch up with the beam of light. This is explained by his theory of relativity.
