         In 772 BC, the group conquered the kingdom through their aggressive and effective technique. The Assyrians laid out a history of dominance over the Middle East. The strategy employed for pacifying the conquered territories was the relocation of its previous inhabitants to other parts of its empire.

         This relocation would mostly target the upper and more powerful classes, as the belief was that this was the group that would send a message. Moving the general masses would not have the pacifying effect they would hope to have to quell a rebellion.

         In Israel, ten tribes were forced to scatter (proto-diaspora), but some would say that this doesn't apply since the Israelites reallocated and disappeared from history. Hence they were known as “the ten lost tribes of Israel.”
