The distance of segment AX sis found to be 8.6 units using the distance formula.

<h3>What exactly is the distance formula?</h3>
  • \sqrt{[x_{2}-x_{1}]^{2} + [y_{2}-y_{1}]^{2} }  is the distance formula. This works for any two points in two-dimensional space with coordinates (x₁, y₁) for the first and (x₂, y₂) for the second.
  • You may easily remember it if you remember that it is Pythagoras' theorem, that the distance is the hypothenuse, and that the coordinate lengths are the difference between the x and y components of the points.

<h3>Why do we employ the distance formula?</h3>
  • In complex numbers, the distance formula is used to express the plane and its magnitude.
  • Furthermore, distance formulae can be used to calculate the distance between two planes in three-dimensional or n-dimensional planes. It is also used to calculate the magnitude formula.

Given: A(-4, 5), X (1, −2)

We need to find the distance of the segment AX.

Distance of AX is given as :

\sqrt{[1-(-4)]^{2} + [-2-5]^{2} } \\= \sqrt{25 + 49}\\ = \sqrt{74}\\ =8.6

Therefore, the distance of segment AX sis found to be 8.6 units using the distance formula.

I'm kind of confused on what I got wrong on this math question....can someone plz explain
skelet666 [1.2K]
(2x - 8) - (4x + 8)

first look at the x

2x - 4x = -2x

-2x is left over

then look at the numbers

8 - (-8)

in the case of having two negatives, it becomes positive, and so it is really 8 + 8

8 + 8 = 16

-2x - 16 is your answer

hope this helps

Find the difference of
Colt1911 [192]

Answer:

{x}^{2} - x + 1

Step-by-step explanation:

subtract the functions as follows:

s(x) - r(x) = (2x+1) - (-x2 +3x)

expand the 2nd bracket by multiplying it by the negative 1 outside

= 2x + 1 + x2 - 3x

= x2 - x + 1

Voila!

Suppose you add two linear equations that form a system, and you get the result y = −2. how many solutions does the system have?
Butoxors [25]
This system will have 1 solution <==

** if it were to end like 0 = 4, or 2 = -3....no variables and numbers that dont equal....this means no solutions.

** if u were to end up with 5 = 5, or -9 = -9...no variables and numbers that do equal, then u will have infinite solutions

** but if u end with y = -2 or x = 5...a variable equaling a number, then u will have 1 solution

3. Consider the complex numbers z and w below. Find the difference z-
Rina8888 [55]

Answer:

see explanation

Step-by-step explanation:

z - w

= 1 - 3i - (- 2 + 5i) ← distribute parenthesis by - 1

= 1 - 3i + 2 - 5i ← collect like terms

= 3 - 8i

------------------------------------------------------------

z × w

= (1 - 3i)(- 2 + 5i) ← expand using FOIL

= - 2 + 5i + 6i - 15i² [ i² = - 1 ]

= - 2 + 11i + 15

= 13 + 11i
