Block of ice of mass 59.5g contains 19.87 ×10²³molecules and 39.75×10²³ atoms.

Molecular mass of Water is 18g/mol

No. of moles = Given mass /Molecular mass

No. of moles of water = 59.5/18 (Given, mass of block of ice is 59.5g)

                                    = 3.3moles.

1mol of water contains 6.023×10²³ molecules of water.

Then,3.3 moles of water contains ,

3.3× 6.023×10²³= 19.87 ×10²³molecules.

1mol of water (H₂O) contains,2× 6.023×10²³ atoms of hydrogen

Then, 3.3 moles of water contains,

2×3.3× 6.023×10²³ = 39.75×10²³ atoms of hydrogen.

Thus, the molecules and atoms present in the block of ice of mass 59.5g is 19.87 ×10²³molecules and 39.75×10²³ atoms respectively.

Two ways friction is harmful when riding a bike
Nat2105 [25]
If your bike isn't the right size, your legs could be rubbing up against the seat of your bike. The friction can chafe the skin on your legs. If you were to crash your bike, skidding on the ground can cause anywhere from minor scrapes to serious friction burns.

When 5.58g H2 react by the following balanced equation, 32.8g H2O are formed. What is the percent yield of the reaction? 2H2(g)+
8090 [49]

Answer:

D) 65.7%

Explanation:

Based on the reaction:

2H2(g)+O2(g)⟶2H2O(l)

2 moles of hydrogen produce 2 moles of water assuming an excess of oxygen.

To find percent yield of the reaction we need to find theoretical yield (The yield assuming all hydrogen reacts producing water). With theoretical yield and actual yield (32.8g H₂O) we can determine percent yield as 100 times the ratio between actual yield and theoretical yield.

Theoretical yield:

Moles of 5.58g H₂:

5.58g H₂ ₓ (1 mol / 2.016g) = 2.768 moles H₂

As 2 moles of H₂ produce 2 moles of H₂O, if all hydrogen reacts will produce 2.768 moles H₂O. In grams:

2.768 moles H₂O ₓ (18.015g / mol) =

49.86g H₂O is theoretical yield

Percent yield:

Percent yield = Actual yield / Theoretical yield ₓ 100

32.8g H₂O / 49.86g ₓ 100 =

65.7% is percent yield of the reaction

D) 65.7%

Why is a solid recrystallized with the minimum of hot solvent?
VMariaS [17]

Answer:

Recrystallization refers to the method used for purifying chemical compounds. In this method, the chemical compound along with the impurities is dissolved in an appropriate hot solvent, to separate the chemical compound and the impurity.

The pure chemical compound that separates after the recrystallization process exists in the form of crystals.

Generally, the impure chemical compound is fully dissolved in the minimum amount of the solvent, thus forming a saturated solution. This is because if large amount of solvent is used, then a large amount of the chemical compound will remain dissolved in the solvent, even after cooling.

Therefore, all of the chemical compound will not get recrystallized.
