Answer: 2 porters joined the group

Step-by-step explanation:

First, you are told that "13 porters are carrying a total weight of 195kg". You can use this information to create an equation to find the average weight carried by each porter.

\frac{195 kg}{13}=15kg

^195kg (total weight) divided by 13 (the number of porters) is equal to 15kg (the average weight carried by each of the 13 porters).

You are then told that "extra porters join the group, so they carry an average weight of 13 kg of baggage". because some porters joined the group, you'll have to add p (p = number of porters) to the original equation and change the average weight from 15kg to 13kg.

\frac{195kg}{13 +p} = 13kg

^195kg (total weight) divided by 13+p (total number of porters after some joined group) is equal to 13kg (new average weight)

You can then use your new equation to solve for "p" and find the number of porters added.

p = 2

Calculus question?
Ann [662]
Remark
If you don't start exactly the right way, you can get into all kinds of trouble. This is just one of those cases. I think the best way to start is to divide both terms by x^(1/2)

Step One
Divide both terms in the numerator by x^(1/2)
y= 6x^(1/2) + 3x^(5/2 - 1/2)
y =6x^(1/2) + 3x^(4/2)
y = 6x^(1/2) + 3x^2   Now differentiate that. It should be much easier.

Step Two
Differentiate the y in the last step.
y' = 6(1/2) x^(- 1/2) + 3*2 x^(2 - 1)
y' = 3x^(-1/2) + 6x  I wonder if there's anything else you can do to this. If there is, I don't see it.

I suppose this is possible.
y' = 3/x^(1/2) + 6x

y' = \frac{3 + 6x^{3/2}}{x^{1/2}}

Frankly I like the first answer better, but you have a choice of both.

Answer:

\frac{4^{21}}{5^6}

Step-by-step explanation:

\left(\frac{4^7}{5^2}\right)^3

=\frac{\left(4^7\right)^3}{\left(5^2\right)^3}

\left(4^7\right)^3

=4^{21}

=\frac{4^{21}}{\left(5^2\right)^3}

\left(5^2\right)^3

5^6

=\frac{4^{21}}{5^6}
