The amount of solution are 250ml of the 12% solution and 50ml of the 20% solution.

t = 12%

e = 20%

t + e = 300

12t + 20e = 300 × 5

12t + 20e = 1500

divide both sides by 2

6t + 10e = 750

We have,

t + e = 300          -----------------(1)

6t + 10e = 750    -----------------(2)

Multiply first equation by -1 and add to second

-t - e + 6t + 10e = 750 + (-300)

⇒ 5t + 9e = 450

∴ t = 0

0t + 9e = 450

9e = 450

divide both sides by 9

e = 50

So,

t + e = 300

⇒ t + 50 = 300

⇒ t = 300 - 50 = 250

Hence, the amount of solution are  250ml of the 12% solution and 50ml of the 20% solution.
