When liquid nitrogen boils the following change occurs.

Chemistry
1 answer:
Ket [755]1 year ago

The boiling point of nitrogen is so low because the nitrogen molecules are very small. The small size of the molecules means that they can escape the liquid state very easily.

What is nitrogen?
The chemical element with the atomic number 7 and the letter N is known as nitrogen. The lightest element in group 15 of the periodic table, often known as the pnictogens, nitrogen is a nonmetal. It is a typical element in the cosmos, believed to be eighth in the Milky Way and the Solar System in terms of overall abundance. Two of the element's atoms combine to generate N₂, an odourless and colourless diatomic gas, under standard pressure and temperature. The majority of the atmosphere on Earth is made up of N₂, making it the most prevalent uncombined element. All living things contain nitrogen, which is principally found in the amino acids that make up proteins, the nucleic acids that make up DNA and RNA, and the energy-transfer molecule adenosine triphosphate.

How many variance electrons in Aluminium? Is it 3
ololo11 [35]

Answer:

Question #1: How many valence electrons in Aluminum? Is it 3?

------> Yes, aluminum has 3 valence electrons.

Question #2: How many valence electron in Sulfur? Is it 6?

-----> Yes, sulfur has 6 valence electrons.

Question #3: What type of bonds do these form? Is it covalent or ionic?

-----> Covalent bonds generally occur between 2 nonmetals. Ionic bonds generally occur between a metal and a nonmetal. Aluminum is a metal and sulfur is a nonmetal. Therefore, an ionic bond would form.

Question #4: How many aluminum atoms will you need? 1, 2, or 3?

-----> Atoms become ions in order to achieve a full octet of valence electrons (8 valence electrons). Since aluminum atoms have 3 valence electrons, they are likely to donate these electrons during ionization. As such, aluminum ions look like this: Al³⁺. Since sulfur atoms have 6 valence electrons, they are likely to receive 2 electrons during ionization. As such, sulfur ions look like this: S²⁻.

-----> The ionic compound formed will be Al₂S₃. There would be 2 aluminum atoms because this arrangement allows for the ionic compound to have an overall charge of 0.

Aluminum = +3

Sulfur = -2

+3 + 3 + (-2) + (-2) + (-2) = 0

Question #5: How many sulfur atoms will you need? 1, 2, or 3?

-----> As stated previously the resulting ionic compound is Al₂S₃. There would be 3 sulfur atoms to balance the charges.

Upon decomposition, a sample of sodium bicarbonate produces 0.0118 g of sodium carbonate, Na2CO3. How many grams of water does i
Naily [24]

Answer:

2.00 × 10⁻³ g

Explanation:

Step 1: Write the balanced decomposition reaction

2 NaHCO₃ ⇒ Na₂CO₃ + CO₂ + H₂O

Step 2: Calculate the moles corresponding to 0.0118 g of Na₂CO₃

The molar mass of Na₂CO₃ is 105.99 g/mol.

0.0118 g × 1 mol/105.99 g = 1.11 × 10⁻⁴ mol

Step 3: Calculate the moles of H₂O produced with 1.11 × 10⁻⁴ moles of Na₂CO₃

The molar ratio of Na₂CO₃ to H₂O is 1:1. The moles of H₂O produced are 1/1 × 1.11 × 10⁻⁴ mol = 1.11 × 10⁻⁴ mol.

Step 4: Calculate the mass corresponding to 1.11 × 10⁻⁴ moles of H₂O

The molar mass of H₂O is 18.02 g/mol.

1.11 × 10⁻⁴ mol × 18.02 g/mol =  2.00 × 10⁻³ g

Consider the reaction 2 CO + O2 → 2 CO2 .What is the percent yield of carbon dioxide
Wewaii [24]

Answer:

Y=50.9\%

Explanation:

Hello,

In this case, given the reaction, we can directly compute the theoretically yielded grams of carbon dioxide, considering the 2:2 molar ratio between carbon monoxide (molar mass = 28 g/mol) and carbon dioxide (molar mass = 44 g/mol) and the initial reacting grams of carbon monoxide in excess oxygen:

m_{CO_2}^{theoretical}=10gCO*\frac{1molCO}{28gCO}*\frac{2molCO_2}{2molCO}*\frac{44gCO_2}{1molCO_2}   =15.7gCO_2

Thus, as only 8 g were actually yielded, we compute the percent yield:

Y=\frac{8g}{15.7g}*100\% \\\\Y=50.9\%

Best regards.

A compound contains 64.27% carbon, 7.19% hydrogen, and 28.54% oxygen. the molar mass is 168.19 g/mol. what is the molecular form
coldgirl [10]
Empirical formula is the simplest ratio of whole numbers of components in a compound
calculating for 100 g of compound
                                             C                             H                             O
mass                                  64.27 g                   7.19 g                     28.54 g
number of moles        64.27 g / 12 g/mol      7.19 g/1 g/mol     28.54 g / 16 g/mol
                                        = 5.356 mol           = 7.19 mol           = 1.784 mol
divide by least number of moles
                                     5.356 / 1.784            7.19 / 1.784         1.784 / 1.784
                                      = 3.002                     4.03                     = 1.000
rounded off to nearest whole number
 C - 3
 H - 4
 O - 1
empirical formula - C₃H₄O

 mass of empirical formula = 12 g/mol  x 3 + 1 g/mol x 4 + 16 g/mol x 1 = 56 g
molecular mass = 168.19 g/mol
molecular formula is the actual ratio of elements making up the compound
number of empirical units = molar mass of molecule / empirical mass
      empirical units = 168.19 g/mol  / 56 g = 3.00
there are 3 empirical units making up the molecular formula
molecular formula = 3 x C₃H₄O

molecular formula = C₉H₁₂O₃
