Answer:

y = (-5/3)x - 4

Explanation:

The equation of a line with slope m that goes through the point (x1, y1) is:

y-y_1=m(x-x_1)_{}

Additionally, two lines are parallel if they have the same slope.

The slope of the line y = (-5/3)x - 2 is (-5/3) because it is the number beside x.

So, the slope of our line is also -5/3.

Therefore, replacing m by -5/3 and (x1, y1) by (-3, 1), we get that the equation of the line is:

\begin{gathered} y-1=-\frac{5}{3}(x-(-3)) \\ y-1=-\frac{5}{3}(x+3) \end{gathered}

Finally, solving for y, we get:

\begin{gathered} y-1=-\frac{5}{3}x-(\frac{5}{3}\cdot3) \\ y-1=-\frac{5}{3}x-5 \\ y=-\frac{5}{3}x-5+1 \\ y=-\frac{5}{3}x-4 \end{gathered}

So, the answer is:

y = (-5/3)x - 4

What is the expression in factored form? 4x^2+11x+6<br><br>Show work please!!
Irina18 [472]
To solve this I'm going to split the middle term.
First multiply the first and last terms:
24x^2
So find two numbers that multiply to 24x^2 and add to 11x.
This would be 3x and 8x
Rewrite the problem as
4x^2+3x+8x+6
Take the first and 3rd and 2nd and 4th terms
4x^2 and 8x
and
3x and 6
Factor by grouping
Take out a 4x for the first group to get 4x(x+2)
Take out a 3 for the 2nd group to get 3(x+2)
Rewrite as (4x+3)(x+2)
Hope this helps.

Determine the equation of the graph and select the correct answer (-4,-1)
Snowcat [4.5K]

Answer:

(-4,-1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Assuming the graph is the one shown in the attachment.

The forward sloping line has a slope of 1 and a y-intercept of 3.

The equation of this line is y=x+3

The horizontal line has a slope of 0 and y-intercept of -1.

It's equation is y=-1

The two lines intersect at (-4,-1)

Indicate the equation of the line that is the perpendicular bisector of the segment with endpoints (4, 1) and (2, -5).
balandron [24]
If it is bisector then it co ordinate points is in mid way(3,-2)

and it is perpendicular so its slope m2=-1/m1
where m1 is slope of another line passes through (4,1) nd (2,-5)

m1=-5-1/2-4=3
m2==-1/3

so equation of line is
y-3= -1/3(x+2)
