The collection and analysis of behavioral data also comprises of certain methods and instruments, as well as processes to do the same. Some commonly used data collecting methods, for behavior, are frequency and rate recording, scatterplot analysis, time sampling and interval recording.

The processes which can be used to analyze data are the survey-sparrow methods, the MBTI or Myers- Briggs Type Indicator, the USC's Leadership Style Self- Assessment, the MindTools Leadership Skills Assessment and the Saville Assessment, among others.

These tests can help us figure out what kind of leadership qualities does a person have and this understanding can help the person bring out his or her best side of the leadership skill.
