Answer:

Question 1:  Slope = \frac{1}{3}  feet

Question 2:  Slope = 4

Step-by-step explanation:

Question 1:

The pitch of a roof is the inclination of that roof. The "slopiness" of the roof. Whether it is steep or not.

To know the pitch, we need to find the "RISE" over "RUN". That means the "height" from ground and the "length" from initial position.

The height is shown in the figure as 4 ft

The length is shown in the figure as 12 ft

The slope is the quotient of it.

Hence,

Slope = 4/12 = 1/3 feet

Question 2:

To find slope from table of points, we need 2 coordinate pairs in the form (x,y). Lets take the first two points.

(1,2)

and

(3,10)

The slope would be the change in y coordinates of both (2nd point y coordinate - 1st point y coordinate) DIVIDED by the change in x coordinates of both (2nd point x coordinate - 1st point x coordinate). So:

Change in y coordinates = 10 - 2 = 8

Change in x coordinates = 3 - 1 = 2

Thus,

Slope = change in y/change in x = 8/2 = 4

Slope = 4

Emily and her children went into a grocery store and she bought $20.80 worth of bananas and peaches. Each banana costs $0.80 and
-BARSIC- [3]

b + p = 14 and 0.80 b + 2 p = 20.80 are the system of equations.

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 :

Let b be the number of bananas

Let p be the number of peaches

Given that the total of bananas and peaches that Emily bought  = 14

Hence we have,

b + p = 14

Step 2 :

Cost of one banana =  $0.80

Cost of one peach = $2

Cost of all the bananas and peaches Emily bought = $20.80

So sum of b bananas costing $0.80 and sum of p peaches costing $2 each is $20.80

Hence we have

0.80 b +2 p = 20.80

Solving for the above 2 equations we can get the value for b and p which will give the number of bananas and peaches bought

Step 3 :

Answer :

The system of equations that could be used to find the number of the bananas and the number of the peaches that Emily bought is given by

b + p = 14

0.80 b +2 p = 20.80

The equation C(l) = l3 – l2 + l + 2.5 models the cost to mail a package as a function of its length. To the nearest quarter inch
Anettt [7]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Set the cost equation C(l) = l3 – l2 + l + 2.5 equal to $11.00 and solve for l:

                                     C(l) = 2l + 2.5 = $11, or

                                               2l = 8.5, or l = length = 4.25 inches
