It is A.

"When Melody bikes for 1.5 h, she travels 10.5 mi.", therefore her speed is 10.5/1.5 = 7 mi/hr. So the right equation is <span>m = 7t.</span>

Looking at this problem in terms of geometry makes it easier than trying to think of it algebraically.

If you want the largest possible x+y, it's equivalent to finding a rectangle with width x and length y that has the largest perimeter.

If you want the smallest possible x+y, it's equivalent to finding the rectangle with the smallest perimeter.

However, the area x*y must be constant and = 100.

We know that a square has the smallest perimeter to area ratio. This means that the smallest perimeter rectangle with area 100 is a square with side length 10. For this square, x+y = 20.

We also know that the further the rectangle stretches, the larger its perimeter to area ratio becomes. This means that a rectangle with side lengths 100 and 1 with an area of 100 has the largest perimeter. For this rectangle, x+y = 101.

So, the difference between the max and min values of x+y = 101 - 20 = 81.

Supplemental Activities - Ch 1
Deffense [45]

x \geq -9; x \leq 6 or in interval notation [-9,6]

To find out what are the steps in solving the below inequality:

Given equation is 2x - 3 > 15

The absolute value function takes any term and transforms it to its non-negative form. Therefore, we must solve the term within the absolute value function for both its negative and positive equivalent.

−15≤2x-3≤15

First, subtract 3  from each segment of the system of equations to isolate the x term while keeping the system balanced:

−15−3≤2x-3−3≤15−3

−18≤2x-6≤12

−18≤2x-6≤12

Now, divide each segment of the system by 2 to solve for x while keeping the system balanced:

-\frac{18}{2}\leq \frac{2x}{2} \leq \frac{12}{2}

-9 \leq x \leq 6

or

x \geq -9; x \leq 6

or in interval notation [-9,6]

on the horizontal axis.

The lines will be a solid line because the inequality operators contain "or equal to" clauses.

We will shade between the lines to show the interval:

Hence the steps to solve an inequality has been show

Given f(x) = -2x and g(x) = 4x - 8, find h(x) = f(x) +g(x)
Hitman42 [59]
What you need to do is add the two equations and combine like terms to get h(x). Refer to the photo for a better explanation.
