A fat molecule is less soluble in water because it has three non-polar fatty acids and no polar or charged head like a phospholipid has.

Fat is less soluble in water compared to phospholipids.
This is because, fat is made up of three molecules of fatty acids which are not polar in nature at all, thus they mixed very poorly with water.
Phospholipids on the other hand has its molecules divided into two distinct regions, the head and the tail region. The head region is hydrophillic and it is polar in nature, that is, it mixes well with water. The tail region is made up of the fatty components  and it is hydrophobic.
Because of this difference in structure, phospholipid will dissolve better in water.

What happened to the green active site of the protein in the mutated cftr protein
svetoff [14.1K]

Answer:

The role of CFTR is to build channels on the cell surface to enable the flow of chloride (Cl-). When the  CFTR protein works properly, the balance of Cl-and fluid at the cell surface is normal. If the mutation of  CFTR protein happens the balance of Cl- and fluids is disrupted, causing mucus in various organs to  become thick and gluey. As a result, lung infections and, eventually, respiratory failure in the lungs might  occur. Mutations on the CFTR normally change single amino acids in the CFTR protein which happens  in abnormal channel breaks down soon after it is made.

Explanation:

The CFTR gene gives direction for producing a protein called the cystic fibrosis trans membrane  conductance regulator. This protein functions being a channel over the membrane of cells that produce  mucus, sweat, saliva, tears, and digestive enzymes. The channel transports negatively filled particles  called chloride ions into and out of cells. The transport of chloride ions improves control the movement of  water in tissues, which is essential for the creation of thin, freely flowing mucus. Mucus is a slippery  substance that greases and defends the lining of the airways, digestive system, reproductive system,  and different organs and tissues. The CFTR protein further regulates the role of other channels, such as  those that transport positively charged particles called sodium ions across cell membranes. These  channels are essential for the normal function of organs such as the lungs and pancreas.

Which of the following continents was not covered by ice during the Pleistocene ice age?
s2008m [1.1K]
I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is option C. The continent that was not covered by ice during the Pleistocene ice age. This is because the southern location of this nation made it much harder for ice to form, even during this time. Hope this answers the question.

What is the difference between a muscular strength exercise and a muscular endurance exercise?
Bingel [31]

Answer:

Muscular strength exercises build neuropathways to your brain, strengthening and building your muscle. Muscular endurance exercises work the muscle you already have. For example, weight lifting would be muscular strength because you're building muscle. Running would be muscular endurance because you're seeing how long those leg muscles can last. However, the two can also "intermix" and you usually do both at the same time.
