You don’t have enough sugar because you only have 1 2/15 pounds of sugar. 1 2/15 is less than 1 1/2.
I liked using fractions for this type of question, I just find it easier, so in this case 20% is 1/5. That means that £45 is 4/5, so you have to divide 45 by 4 to get 1/5 of the original amount. 45 ÷ 4 = 11.25. Then, you just multiply 11.25 by 5 to get £56.25, which should be the answer. Hope this helped!
1. 1 1/8= 18/16
5/16*2= 10/16
4/16*2= 8/16
9/16= 9/16
1/2= 8/16
18/16 + 10/16 + 8/16 + 9/16 + 8/16= 53/16
Simplify:
4 & 5/16sq ft
2. All you do is multiply that by 3... so 4 & 5/16 = 53/16 53/16*3 = 159/16 = 9 & 15/16 sq ft
If x+4=y, then x+12=3y because 4 (3)=12
