My sociology course says “science refers to a body of knowledge that is collected through observation and study. Sciences use various methods to collect data and test that data, including experiments, observations, and surveys. A scientist tries to collect precise information by carefully recording information and by being as unbiased as possible. Through this process, the scientist accumulates data about the particular topic of study.”

So we science to collect and accumulate data

What is cotransport? Explain how understanding it is used in our treatment of diarrhea.
qaws [65]

Answer:

In cotransport, a single ATP-powered pump that transports a specific solute drives the active transport of several other  solutes. Normally, sodium in waste is reabsorbed in the colon, maintaining constant levels in the body, but diarrhea  expels waste so rapidly that re-absorption is not possible, and sodium levels fall precipitously. To treat this life threatening condition, patients are given a solution to drink containing high concentrations of salt and glucose. The  solutes are taken up by sodium-glucose cotransporters on the surface of intestinal cells and passed through the cells into  the blood. This simple treatment has lowered infant mortality worldwide.

Is a post oak tree is a autotrophic or heterotrophic
Tcecarenko [31]
All plants are autotrophic.

Autotrophic means he doesn't need another living thing to live(for eating) but that he makes his own food (photosynthesis). (auto means itself).

Heterotrophic means he needs others to keep on living. Like animals. All animals need to eat and can't make their own food with only sunlight, CO2 and water. They need food, which may be plants or other animals. That depends on the animal.

What part of DNA determines traits?
makvit [3.9K]

Answer:

The traits of a living thing depend on the complex mixture of interacting components inside it. Proteins do much of the chemical work inside cells, so they largely determine what those traits are. But those proteins owe their existence to the DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid), so that is where we must look for the answer.
