Describe how you would use a yardstick to measure a length of a rug

If you didn't know the precise measurements, you could lay the stick on the rug and measure how many of those yardsticks fit onto that rug. Then you could take that yardstick to a store and find a new one by applying the same type of measuring and you would find things that are the same size. You would use the stick for reference.

____$$$$!!!!!!!?????
Lubov Fominskaja [6]

To solve, you first want to find the total she hiked in the morning. 1.75+2.4=4.15. Then, you want to subtact the total miles she hiked in the morning from the total miles she hiked in total. 6.5-4.15=2.35. The last step is to compare the miles hiked in the morning compared to the miles in the afternoon by finding the difference. 4.15-2.35=1.8, so therefore she hiked 1.8 more miles in the morning than in the afternoon,

How do i find the missing sides?
Bezzdna [24]
4. You're right that the leg labeled x occurs in a 1-to-2 ratio with the hypotenuse, but more to the point, it also occurs with the leg of length 10 in a 1-to-\sqrt3 ratio. In other words,

10=x\sqrt3\implies x=\dfrac{10}{\sqrt3}

and so

2x=\dfrac{20}{\sqrt3}

5. In this kind of triangle, the legs form a 1-to-\sqrt2 ratio with the hypotenuse, so it follows that x=2.1.

6. You have x and x\sqrt3 mismatched. The larger leg in this kind of triangle has the \sqrt3 scaling factor. So in fact, x=25, which makes the larger leg x\sqrt3=25\sqrt3, and the hypotenuse would be 2x=50.
