For over a decade, farmers in the U.S. have been planting genetically modified crops. An example of one of these crops is corn t
sdas [7]

One possible negative side effect of planting corn that is resistant to weed-killer is that: the resistance gene could be transferred to actual weeds, making farming more difficult.

What is genetic engineering?

Genetic engineering is also referred to as genetic modification and it can be defined as a technological process that involves the use of laboratory-based technologies to alter or modify the deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) makeup of a living organism, in order to improve on both its physical and chemical conditions, or cure (correct) a genetic disorder in some cases.

Based on historical records, corn is a genetically modified crop with an ability to resist weed-killer, which makes it possible for it survive even when it is exposed to herbicide that are designed and developed to kill weeds.

However, one of the demerits of planting a genetically modified corn that is resistant to weed-killer is that the genes responsible for this resistance could be transferred to actual weeds, which would eventually make farming to be more difficult for farmers.

Based on the data given, what is the BEST conclusion to be drawn? A) Over time, due to evolution by means of natural selection,
sergey [27]

Answer:

The correct option is A. Over time, due to evolution by means of natural selection, resistant weeds survived, reproduced, and passed on their herbicide resistant genes.

Explanation:

Herbicides can be described as substances which are used to kill unwanted plants such as the weeds. Nowadays, selective herbicides are produces which are effective in killing the weed species and do not harm the crop plants.

But over time, the weeds get resistant to the herbicide. As the theory of natural selection says, 'survival of the fittest', the herbicide which are resistant are better adapted to live hence, they pass their genes to the offsprings. This results in the production of more herbicide resistant weeds.

What kind of love has intimacy, passion and commitment?
elena-14-01-66 [18.8K]

The correct answer is D. Consummate love

Explanation:

According to the American psychologist Robert J. Stenberg, love is defined by three aspects: intimacy (closeness), passion (physical attraction) and commitment (desire to remain together and achieve goals). Additionally, the combination of these aspects leads to different kinds of love. For example, friendship is based on intimacy or closeness but no passion or commitment. In the case the three factors are present in a relationship, this is considered as consummate love as it represents the ideal relationship and integrates all the factors that contribute to a long-lasting relationship.
