(x-1)/ (x+7). factor the top (x-1)(x-7). then factor the bottom. (x+7)(x-7) so it should read, (x-1)(x-7)/(x+7)(x-7) the 2 (x-7) cancels out. so your left with (x-1)/(x+7). I hope this helps
