Jessica is selling books during the summer to earn money for college. She earns a commission on each sale but has to pay for her

own expenses. After a month of driving from neighborhood to neighborhood and walking door to door she figures out that her weekly earnings are approximately a linear function of the number of doors she knocks on. She writes the equation of the function like this: E(X) =7X -25, where X is the number of doors she knocks on during the week and E (X) is her earnings for the week in dollars. What does the slope of Jessica's function represent?
A. for each additional set of books she sells her earnings will increase by $25
B. for each additional door she knocks on her earnings will increase by $7
C. for each additional door she knocks on her earnings will increase by $25
D. for each additional set of books she sells her earnings will increase by $7

Answer:

For each additional door she knocks on her earnings will increase by some dollars but not $25

Step-by-step explanation:

Here the equation is

e(x)=7x-25

here we see that the slope of Jessica Function is 7 , hence it is the angle , the line makes with the x axis is positive and it is less than 90°

Thus we see that for every unit change in x , there is some increment in the value of e(x).

Find the intersection points using substitution or elimination for each system of equations:
natka813 [3]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Okay, so I think I know what the equations are, but I might have misinterpreted them because of the syntax- I think when you ask a question you can use the symbols tool to input it in a more clear way, otherwise you can use parentheses and such.

Problem 1:

(x²)/4 +y²= 1

y= x+1

*substitute for y*

Now we have a one-variable equation we can solve-

x²/4 + (x+1)² = 1

x²/4 + (x+1)(x+1)= 1

x²/4 + x²+2x+1= 1

*subtract 1 from both sides to set equal to 0*

x²/4 +x^2+2x=0

x²/4 can also be 1/4 * x²

1/4 * x² +1*x² +2x = 0

*combine like terms*

5/4 * x^2+2x+ 0 =0

now, you can use the quadratic equation to solve for x

a= 5/4

b= 2

c=0

the syntax on this will be rough, but I'll do my best...

x= (-b ± √(b²-4ac))/(2a)

x= (-2 ±√(2²-4*(5/4)*(0))/(2*(5/4))

x= (-2 ±√(4-0))/(2.5)

x= (-2±2)/2.5

x will have 2 answers because of ±

x= 0 or x= 1.6

now plug that back into one of the equations and solve.

y= 0+1 = 1

y= 1.6+1= 2.6

Hopefully this explanation was enough to help you solve problem 2.

Problem 2:

x² + y² -16y +39= 0

y²- x² -9= 0

You multiply a number by 3 subtract 6 then add 2 the results is 20 what's the number
e-lub [12.9K]

You multiply a number by 3 subtract 6 then add 2 the results is 20

what's the number ?

Let the number = x

multiply a number by 3

so, it becomes 3x

subtract 6 , so, 3x - 6

then add 2

so, 3x - 6 + 2

The result will be 20

So,

3x - 6 + 2 = 20

solve for x

3x - 4 = 20

Add 4 to both sides

3x - 4 + 4 = 20 + 4

3x = 24

Divide both sides by 3

3x/3 = 24/3

So,

x = 8

12Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Answer: Step-by-step explanation: We are given an exponential equation.We need to convert it into it's equivalent equation.Let us factor 4.4 = 2 × 2Therefore, 2 × 2 could be written as .Now, let us factor 64 in terms of 2's.64 = 2 × 2× 2× 2× 2× 2 = .Replacing 4 by  and 64 by  in original equation, we get Distributing 2 over (x+3), we get
