The Civil Rights Act of 1964, signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson, ended the segregation of public facilities. This included places like parks, restaraunts, water fountains,etc. Along with this, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 also made it illegal to discriminate against a person applying for a job on the basis of race, sex, gender, color, or national origin. This was a huge step forward in the Civil Rights movement.
