Out of the 11 Leadership principles in ROTC, the most important is the first one:    Know yourself and seek self-improvement. 

Once you have thoroughly evaluated yourself, you can easily excel in whatever you do in the most genuine sense. You can easily identify your strengths and weaknesses while being open to further rooms of personal improvement. Only those who are truly interested in improving will have the chance to improve.
