Hermaphroditism

It is defined as the presence of ovary and testis. It can be separate or together known as ovutestis. The most common symptom is the abnormal appearance of the external genitalia. Treatment and sex assignment depends on the age at which the patient was diagnosed. Male sex can be considered if there is enough testicular tissue, good phallic size and correctable hypospadia. Female sex rearing can be done only if there is uterus and vagina and enough ovarian tissue.
