Why do you pass out if you lock your knees?
Inga [223]
It's caused by blood pooling in the legs, so there's insufficient return to the heart and brain. Normally, moving one's legs helps to pump blood back to the heart through muscle contraction. Locking the knees makes standing still easier, but reduces use of the leg muscles. In some people, this pooling may lead to hypoperfusion of the brain and fainting, which is essentially the body's way of putting the brain and the legs and the heart at the same level.

Please help, these questions on my hw are confusing to me.
Mariana [72]
10. before replication begins, the strands of DNA are separated and used as templates for the new strands. the replication process creates 2 identical double helixes, each has 1 new strand and 1 old one.

11. without dna replication, damaged cells could not be replaced/repaired and cells need dna, cells would become mutated without dna replication.

12. mutations are rare because dna polymerase proofreads the strands but if the process occurred incorrectly and was not corrected by the polymerase, the cell would become mutated and could be really harmful.

hope this helped!
