The article about endangered species is  ³/₂₀ of the cover page

<h3>Further explanation</h3>

Order of Operations in Mathematics follow this following rule :

  1. Parentheses
  2. Exponents
  3. Multiplication and Division
  4. Addition and Subtraction

This rule is known as the PEMDAS method.

In working on a mathematical problem, we first calculate operation that is in parentheses, follow by exponentiation, then multiplication or division, and finally addition or subtraction.

Let us tackle the problem !

<u>Given:</u>

<em>Total Area of Cover Page = X</em>

<em>Text Section is 3/8 the newspapers cover page</em>

\texttt{Text Section Area} = \frac{3}{8} \times \texttt{Total Area of Cover Page}

\texttt{Text Section Area} = \boxed {\frac{3}{8}X}

<em>The rest of cover page is Photographs Section</em>

\texttt{Photographs Section Area} = (1 - \frac{3}{8}) \times \texttt{Total Area of Cover Page}

\texttt{Photographs Section Area} = \boxed {\frac{5}{8}X}

<em>2/5 of the text is an article about endangered species.</em>

\texttt{Endangered Species Article Section Area} = \frac{2}{5} \times \texttt{Text Section Area}

\texttt{Endangered Species Article Section Area} = \frac{2}{5} \times \frac{3}{8}X

\texttt{Endangered Species Article Section Area} = \frac{2 \times 3}{5 \times 8}X

\texttt{Endangered Species Article Section Area} = \frac{6}{40}X

\texttt{Endangered Species Article Section Area} = \frac{6 \div 2}{40 \div 2}X

\texttt{Endangered Species Article Section Area} = \boxed {\frac{3}{20}X}

The fraction of text -3/8 of the cover page
From this fraction of text only 2/5 of the text is about endangered species
We are asked to find out what the fraction of the cover page is that covers endangered species
In this 2/5 of 3/8 is about endangered species
Therefore to obtain the answer we need to multiply the two fractions
2/5 * 3/8
Fraction of the cover page about endangered species is therefore = 2/5 * 3/8
= 0.15

Sever21 [200]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that special deck of cards has 20 cards. Nine are green, seven are blue, and four are red. When a card is picked, the color of it is recorded. An experiment consists of first picking a card and then tossing a coin

A) Sample space will have Green, Head,  or Green, Tail .... Red, head, red, tail

No of elements in sample space = no of colours x no of outcomes in coin toss

= 4x2 = 8

B) A= getting (RT)

P(A) = Prob of getting red card and tail on coin

= P (R) *P(T)

=\frac{4}{20} *\frac{1}{2} \\=\frac{1}{10}

C) B be the event that a green or blue is picked, followed by landing a tail on the coin toss

B = getting green card and tail

Getting green card tail is mutally exclusive with red card and tail as there is no common element between green and blue.

D) C= red or green card is picked followed by tail.

Here A and C have a common element as getting red and tail.  So not mutually exclusive
