Let x be the number of seventh grade students.

The 20% of the seventh grade students have math class in the morning means mathematically is 20/100.

The 16 2/23% of those students also have science class in the morning means:

16 2/3 & 20/100 = also have class in the morning
83 1/3 * 20/100 = math in the morning but not in science in the morning

30 students have math in the morning but not science in the morning

83 1/3% * 20/100% * x = 30
250/3 * 20/100x = 30
x = 180

There are 180 seventh graders.

Let's imagine, total number of seventh grade students is x 20% of x= 20x/100 =x/5 16 2/3% of x/5 students also go to science class i.e; 50/3 % of x/5 = x/30 go to science & maths class.......(a) 30 students only goes to maths class( no science) So, x/5-30 students go to science & maths class..........(b) From (a) & (b) we can conclude x/5 - 30 = x/30 Or x/5 - x/30 = 30 or (6x-x)/30 = 30 Or 5x/30 = 30 or 5x = 900 so, x= 900/5 x=180 So, the total number of seventh grade students which we assumed to be x is 180 .

What is the basic ratio for 25:40
Rashid [163]

The basic ratio of 25:40 would be 5:8.

Since 25:40 is equivalent to the fraction 25/40, you would simplify.

25 (divided by) 5 = 5

40 (divided by) 5 = 8

So, the answer is 5:8.

Ron finds 9 books at a bookstore that he would like to buy, but he can afford only 5 of them. In how many ways can he make his s
pashok25 [27]

Answer:

15,120 for the first question. 1,680 if one of the books is a must

Step-by-step explanation:

When Ron chooses his first book, he has 9 options. After that, when he chooses his second book, he only has 8 choices because he already picked one of them. By his third choice, he only has 7 choices and so on.

We can make an equation to represent this,

9 x 8 x 7 x 6 x 5

Multiplying all of that out gets you 15,120.

The second problem is even easier. Since one of the books is already chosen for him, he starts off only having 8 options. Since he is only choosing four books this time, we are only multiplying four numbers.

8 x 7 x 6 x 5

Multiplying all of that out tells you there are 1,680 ways he can make his selection in the second scenario.
