South America is both north of the equator and south of the equator (mostly south).  Punta Gallinas Columbia is the northern most point of South America at 12 degrees 25 minutes 16.24seconds N to 56 degrees 0 minutes 6.19 seconds  South and from east/west

34 degrees 47 minutes 15.97 seconds West to 81 degrees 22 minutes 47.78 seconds west.
