i) the mean of x is:

1.we find the difference of each value to the mean.
2. we square each of these differences
3.we find the mean of the squared differences

i)

ii)

$(-1.3)^2=1.69\\\\(-0.3)^2=0.09\\\\(0.7)^2=0.49\\\\(2.7)^2=7.29$

iii)

we have 4-1's, 4-2's, 5-3's, and 1 5, 

so the mean of the differences squared is :
