I propose a bicameral legislature. This makes the most sense since our students deserve to have different ways to participate. One house will represent eleventh and twelfth graders, and the other will represent ninth and tenth graders. All representatives should serve for one year; this will ensure they'll listen to their fellow students. Each legislature will have different responsibilities, so they will need to cooperate with each other.

The structure of Congress is based on two major determiners: equal representation for all states and representation based on population.  The Senate has equal representation from each state by allowing exactly two senators from each state to be elected in.  The House of Representatives is literally representative of the people because the number of reps from each state is based on population, as a states population grows or shrinks compared with other states it's number of allowed representatives rises and falls.  For example, a state with a huge population like California has 53 reps while a state with significantly fewer residents, like Wyoming only has 1 rep.  Most states fall in between.

In my school's legislature I would have two houses to make sure there was balance in representation.  One house would have 3 students from each grade who were elected into their positions.  The other house would have representatives from every major club or interest group based on how popular that group is.  For example, there are a lot of athletes at this school so there might be 5 representatives elected to speak and vote on behalf of their group.  There are much less people involved in yearbook so they would have 1-2 representatives.  The legislative houses could meet regularly to discuss major issues in the school and come with ideas to make the school better.  All the members would have an equal value in their vote about solutions to the issues.  The two houses could pass ideas by each other for major progress and change. I think that this would be the best way to make sure that every student in our school was represented in our congress regardless of grade level or interest group.

In what unit of measurement is discharge usually measured when referring to water flow
loris [4]
The discharge<span> of a stream is the product of its velocity </span><span>(V </span>- length of travel per unit of time such as feet/second) times depth of the water (D<span> - unit of length) times width (</span>W of the water<span>- units of length). (Make sure all all three lengths are expressed in the same unit.)</span><span><span>
Discharge = V x D x W</span>If length is measured in feet and time in seconds, Discharge has units of <span>feet3/sec</span> or cubic feet per second (cfs).Depth times Width gives the cross-sectional area. The shape of the channel is important because of the reduction in velocity due to friction along the channel margins. In a natural situation, an increase in discharge (cubic feet/second) will result in an increase in all three parameters - the river becomes wider, deeper and flows at a higher velocity.</span>

How has population growth affected global societies during the 20th and 21st centuries?
Vika [28.1K]

The correct answer is C) it has led to overcrowding in many parts of the world.

<em>Population growth has affected global societies during the 20 and 21st. century in that it has led to overcrowding in many parts of the world.</em>

Globalization has brought many benefits to the economy of countries but also has had many consequences such as the overcrowding in many parts of the world. This also brings about other problems such as air pollution, lack of services in many parts of larger cities, rural immigration to urban cities in searching for better living conditions, rise or crime, among others. Overcrowded areas in places like Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, or abroad such as Mexico City, Beijing, Tokyo, and Buenos Aires, Argentina, are clear examples of overcrowded places.

Why do you think the teachings of st. Augustine and st.Thomas Aquinas were important to people in the Middle Ages.
pogonyaev

Because two of them were shaping the image of the Catholic church and affected the everyday's life of people. Also, they influenced the theology of the church a lot.

Explanation:

  • St. Augustine is one of the foremost theologians and philosophers in the Christian West. His works exerted a great influence on the development of Roman Catholic and later Protestant theology.
  • Although he was a Manichean in his youth, he later fought as a Christian bishop against the Manicheans. He was proclaimed a saint in the Christian West, which was later accepted in the Christian East, but with certain fences relating to some of Augustine's theological views, which proved controversial from the point of view of Christian orthodoxy.
  • Thomas Aquinas, is one of the greatest theologians and philosophers of the Middle Ages. His teachings are still very popular today.
