<span>It is said that the carbon atom is a tetra valence which means, it contains 4 covalent bonds that can be bonded with other atoms. Therefore, it needs 4 hydrogen atoms to bind into 1 carbon atom. Carbon Atom contains a total of 6 electrons that occupies the 2 shells which is the K (have 2 electrons) and L (have 4 electrons) shells.  The outermost shell of carbon atoms that contains 4 electrons is called as valence shell. In order to complete its octet, carbon Atom needs other atoms to share their valence electrons.</span>

Sodium sulfate dissolves as follows: Na2SO4(s) → 2Na+(aq) + SO42- (aq). How many moles of Na2SO4 are required to make 1.0 L of s
maxonik [38]

<u>Answer:</u> The number of moles of Na_2SO_4 is 0.05 moles.

<u>Explanation:</u>

To calculate the molarity of solution, we use the equation:

\text{Molarity of the solution}=\frac{\text{Moles of solute}}{\text{Volume of solution (in L)}}

We are given:

Molarity of solution = 0.10 mol/L

Volume of solution = 1 L

Putting values in above equation, we get:

0.10mol/L=\frac{\text{Moles of sodium}}{1.0L}\\\\\text{Moles of sodium}=0.10mol

The chemical reaction for the ionization of sodium sulfate follows the equation:

Na_2SO_4(s)\rightarrow 2Na^+(aq.)+SO_4^{2-}(aq.)

By Stoichiometry of the reaction:

2 moles of sodium ions are produced by 1 mole of sodium sulfate

So, 0.10 moles of sodium ions will be produced by = \frac{1}{2}\times 0.1=0.05moles of sodium sulfate.

Hence, the number of moles of Na_2SO_4 is 0.05 moles.

[please answer fast!] If the hydroxide ion concentration is 2x10^-3 M, what is the pH of the solution? Show your working.
Verizon [17]

Answer:

pH = 11.30

Explanation:

pH is defined as -log [H⁺]

To find [H⁺] from [OH⁻] -Concentration of hydroxide ion-, we must use the equilibrium of water:

H₂O(l) ⇄ H⁺(aq) + OH⁻(aq)

Keq = 1x10⁻¹⁴ = [H⁺] [OH⁻]

[H⁺] = 1x10⁻¹⁴ / [OH⁻]

[H⁺] = 1x10⁻¹⁴ / 2x10⁻³M

[H⁺] = 5x10⁻¹²M

pH = -log (5x10⁻¹²M)

<h3>pH = 11.30</h3>

What happens during a phase change from a solid to a liquid?
JulijaS [17]

Answer:

The particles of the solid vibrate faster and faster. After a while, they can start to move around

Explanation: Solid particles movement are restricted due to the strong force of attraction between the molecules,Solid phase will only change to liquid phase if the forces of attraction holding the molecules together are broken down by heat, when this happens the solid particles movement will become more mobile as the substance is moving from solid phase and liquid phase
