so Area of the shaded region=$area of square - area of circle$.

square has a side of 8 m. a= 8m

circle has a diameter of 8 m so the radius=4m.

area of the shaded region=$(a^2)-(3.14*r^2)=(8^2)-(3.14*14)=13.76m^2$
