Hello!

According to my calculations, (8.9 x 10^4) x (4 x 10^8) is equal to 3.56 x 10^13(you may also see expressed as 3.56e13 or 3.56E13).

The following table shows the steps I took to perform the Multiplication on the entered scientific notations.

Multiplication Steps (8.9 x 10^4) x (4 x 10^8)
Group like terms: = (8.9 x 4) x (10^4 x 10^8)

Multiply coefficients
and add exponents: = (35.6) x (10^12)

Convert to proper SN: = 3.56 x 10^13

In the following table I attempt show how you could arrive at the same answer by converting the scientific notations to real numbers, performing the Multiplication, and then converting the result back to scientific notation.

Attempt to Check Answer Manually
(8.9 x 10^4) x (4 x 10^8)
= (8.9 x 10000) x (4 x 100000000)
= 89000 x 400000000
= 35600000000000
= 3.56 x 10^13

Because the language used to create this calculator is not well-equipped to deal with very large or very small numbers, I actually have to manipulate text strings to generate the results you see above. For this reason I can't guarantee the decimal accuracy of the results.

But anyways, The Correct Answer = 3.56 x 10^13.

This is equal to:

(8.9*4)(10^4*10^8)

pertinent rule: (a^b)(a^c)=a^(b+c)

(8.9*4)(10^12)

35.6X10^12

3.56X10^13 (and if we kept only significant figures....)

3.6X10^13

Quoteint of powers
(x^m)/(x^n)=x^(m-n)

we know that 8=x^3

so
(2^5)/8=2^2 can be rewritten as
(2^5)/(2^3)=2^2
and 5-3=2 so it's true

answer is
third one
by simplifieng 8 to 2^3 to make both powers base two, and subtraction the exponents

4/16 in the lowest terms
miskamm [114]

Answer:

1/4

Step-by-step explanation:

The answer is 1/4 because 4 is the greatest common factor (GCF) of both numbers. So you divide both numbers by 4.

4 ÷ 4 = 1

16 ÷ 4 = 4

Therefore, the answer is 1/4.
