The rocket will take 9.25 seconds to return to ground

Solution:

Given that toy rocket is launched vertically upward from ground level with an initial velocity of 148 ft per second

Height "h" after "t" seconds is given by equation:

h(t) = -16t^2 + 148t

To find: time taken by rocket to return to ground

The time taken by rocket to return to ground is found by substituting h(t) = 0 in above equation

0 = -16t^2 + 148t

First take "t" as common term

t(-16t + 148) = 0

Zero product property. The zero product property states that if a⋅b = 0 then either a or b equal zero. This basic property helps us solve equations like (x+2)(x-5) = 0

So for above equation we get,

t = 0 \text{ or } -16t + 148 = 0

-16t + 148 = 0

-16t = -148

t = 9.25

When t = 0 , the rocket would not left the ground. So ignore t = 0

So t = 9.25

So the rocket will take 9.25 seconds to return to ground

Which expression is a linear factor of x6 +x-66?
Naddik [55]

Answer:

Option D.

Step-by-step explanation:

The given expression is

x^6+x-66

It is a polynomial.

(x-c) is a linear factor of polynomial p(x) if p(c)=0.

Substitute x=-1 in the given expression.

(1)^6+(1)-66=-64\neq 0

It means (x+1) is not a linear factor of given expression.

Substitute x=-2 in the given expression.

(-2)^6+(-2)-66=-4\neq 0

It means (x+2) is not a linear factor of given expression.

Substitute x=-4 in the given expression.

(-4)^6+(-4)-66=4026\neq 0

It means (x+4) is not a linear factor of given expression.

None of the given options are a linear factor of given expression.

Therefore, the correct option is D.

What is the value of x?
ki77a [65]

Answer:

7 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

The two triangles are similar, so you can set up a proportion where (36/6) = (42/x). When you solve for x, you get seven.
