Write your own real-world scenario where the Pythagorean Theorem can be applied to find a missing piece. You may choose to write

a problem that is two- or three-dimensional in nature. Be sure that you will be able to draw a diagram of your scenario.
Write out your problem and submit it for Part 1. Be sure to end your scenario with a question

Supposed that you needed to know the diagonal distance from opposite corners of a rectangular prism.

d^2=x^2+y^2+z^2  where x, y, and z are the dimensions of the prism, or rectangular "box"

If the box has a width of 10, depth of 20, and a height of 30 then you have:

d^2=100+400+900

d^2=1400

d^2=100*14

d=√(100*14)

d=10√14 units

d≈37.42 units  (to nearest hundredth of a unit)

You might need this information to determine the most amount of space necessary to allow this box to pass through in any orientation...as the diagonal is the maximum dimension of the box.

I did a three-dimensional problem as the Pythagorean Theorem is often used only for two-dimensional problems in early mathematics...

svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

The required equation is P(t) = -52t + 480

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider the provided information.

Let P represent the number of pages left to read after t hours.

Shryia read a 480-page-long book cover to cover in a single session, at a constant rate. After reading for 1.5 hours, she had 402 pages left to read.

Total number of page Shryia read in 1.5 hours is:

480-402 = 78

It is given that the rate is constant i.e 1.5 hours,

Therefore, she read 78 pages in 1.5 hours.

She can read \frac{78}{1.5} = 52 page per hour

The required equation is:

P(t) = -52t + 480

Where t represents the number of hours.

makvit [3.9K]

Answer: $18.52

Step-by-step explanation: First you multiply the grocery store purchases by 3%, then you multiply the other purchases by 1.5%. Then you add together to get your total cash back

$326.79x.03=$9.80

$581.34x.015=$8.72

$9.80+$8.72=$18.52
