while the 2nd force has x and y components (-19.0 N, 12.5 N). Express the magnitude and direction of the net force. a) 28.7 N, 70º
b) 36.8 N, 70º

Answer:

option a is correct

net force = 28.7 N and 70º

Explanation:

given data

first force= 17.0 N

angle = 58.0º

2nd force = -19.0 N and 12.5 N

to find out

magnitude and direction net force

solution

we know here 1st force is at angle 58.0º is 17 N

so here x component of force is F1 cosθ and y component of force is F1 sinθ

so 1st force

x component of force =  F1 cosθ = 17 cos(58) = 9.0086 N    ...............1

y component of force = F1 sinθ = 17 sin(58) = 14.4168 N        ..............2

and 2nd force

x component of force =  -19 N                           .................3

y component of force = 12.5 N                          ..................4

so net force is

net force = √(Fx²+Fy²)

net force = √((9-19)²+(14.41+12.5)²)

net force = 28.7 N

and

magnitude

tanθ = Fy / Fx

tanθ = 26.92 / 10

θ = 70º

so option a is correct

Two vectors, r and c, are equal: r = c. Which of the following statements are true? (Select all that apply.)
s344n2d4d5 [400]

Answer:

(A) The y-component of r must be equal to the y-component of c

(B) The x-component of r must be equal to the x-component of c

(C) The z-component of r must be equal to the z-component of c

(F) The unit vector r must be equal to the unit vector c.

Explanation:

If two vectors are equal there are some conditions must be satisfy for the two vectors to be equal.

Let us suppose 2 vectors as,

A=a_{1}i+ a_{2}j+a_{3}k and

B=b_{1}i+ b_{2}j+b_{3}k

The conditions for the above two vectors should be equal are:

(1) a_{1}=b_{1}, a_{2}=b_{2}, and a_{3}=b_{3}.

(2) Unit vector of A must be equal to unit vector of B.

(3) Magnitude of both the vectors should be equal.

Now, according to question and observing above conditions of equality for r and c to be equal, the statements should be true are:

(A) The y-component of r should be equal to the y-component of c

(B) The x-component of r should be equal to the x-component of c

(C) The z-component of r should be equal to the z-component of c

(F) The unit vector r should be equal to the unit vector c.

A lacrosse ball leaves the sick horizontally at 12.0m/s. the catcher is 14.0 away. How much does the ball fall vertically travel
boyakko [2]

Answer:

1.65 m

Explanation:

The motion of the ball is a projectile motion, so it is a parabolic motion with two independent motions:

- on the x-axis, a uniform motion with constant speed v_x=12.0 m/s

- on the y-axis, a uniformly accelerated motion with constant acceleration a=9.8 m/s^2 downward.

First of all, we need to find the time t at which the ball has travelled halfway to the chatcher, i.e. at a distance of x=14.0/2=7.0 m. This can be found by using the relationship between distance, time and velocity along the horizontal direction:

t=\frac{x}{v_x}=\frac{7.0 m}{12.0 m/s}=0.58 s

So now we can move to the vertical motion, and we can calculate the distance covered vertically by the ball while falling for t=0.58 s, by using:

S=\frac{1}{2}at^2=\frac{1}{2}(9.8 m/s^2)(0.58 s)^2=1.65 m

Our atmosphere exerts a pressure of 14.7 lb/in2. What is the force on one square foot of the earth’s surface caused by the atmos
Studentka2010 [4]

Answer:

The force on one square foot of the earth’s surface caused by the atmosphere is 101.4 kN.

Explanation:

To force is given by:

F = P*A   (1)

Where:

P: is the pressure = 14.7 lb/in²

A: is the area = 1 m²

By entering the above values into equation (1) we have:

F = P*A = 14.7 \frac{lb}{in^{2}}*\frac{4.45 N}{1 lb}*\frac{1550 in^{2}}{1 m^{2}}*1 m^{2} = 101.4 kN

Therefore, the force on one square foot of the earth’s surface caused by the atmosphere is 101.4 kN.

I hope it helps you!

A small bulb is rated at 7.5 W when operated at 125 V. The tungsten filament has a temperature coefficient of resistivity α = 0.
alisha [4.7K]

To solve this problem we will apply the concepts related to resistance as a function of temperature, product of the relationship between the squared voltage and the power. Mathematically this is,

R = \frac{v^2}{P}

Here,

R = Resistance (At function of temperature)

v = Voltage

P = Power

Then we have,

R at 140°C (7 times room temperature),

R(140\°C) = \frac{125^2}{7.5}

R(140\°C) = 2083.33\Omega

The relationship between normal temperature and increased temperature would then be given by,

R(140\°C) = R(20\°C)(1 +\alpha (\Delta T))

R(140\°C) = R(20\°C)(1+(4.5*10^{-3})(140-20))

R(20\°C) = \frac{2083.33}{1.54}

R(20\°C) = 1352.81\Omega

Therefore the correct value of the group of answer is 1350
