4. Replacing the Eq. 1 in Eq. 2:

x+x+14=58

2x+14=58

2x=58-14

2x=44

x=22

5. Replacing the value of x result in Eq.1:

y=x+14

y=22+14

y=36

Therefore your friend sold 36 tickets.
