Question:

One number is 7 times a first number. A third number is 100 more than the first number. If the sum of the three numbers is 505, Find the numbers.

Answer:

The numbers are 45, 315 and 145

Step-by-step explanation:

Represent the three numbers with A, B and C

Required

Find A, B and C

From the first statement;

B = 7 * A

B = 7A --- (i)

From the second;

C = 100 + A ---- (ii)

From the third;

A + B + C = 505 ---- (iii)

Substitute 7A for B and 100 + A for C in (iii)

A + 7A + 100 + A = 505

Collect like terms

A + 7A + A = 505 - 100

9A = 405

Divide both sides by 9

A = 45

Substitute 45 for A in (i)

B = 7A

B = 7 * 45

B = 315

Substitute 45 for A in (ii)

C = 100 + A

C = 100 + 45

C = 145

Hence, the numbers are 45, 315 and 145

A lawn company advertises that they can spread 7,500 square feet of grass In 2 1/2 hours find the number of square feet of grass
Svetradugi [14.3K]
Ok in one hour the company can spread 3,000 square feet or sqft.

First we need to see which numbers make sense out of 7,500. First we remove the 500 and have 7,000, then we separate 3,000 and for each hour and we are left with 1,000 from here and the 500 we took out before. Now we have a total of 1,500 for the half hour which makes sense because if you add 1,500 for half an hour an 1,500 for another half an hour you get a total of 3,000 which is what we got for the hours above and if you add 3,000 which is for one hour and add 3,000 for the other hour or multiple 3,000 *2 which is the same thing as adding it twice and then add 1,500 for the half hour we get 7,500 total which means 3,000 I'd how much the company can spread in one hour.

Each side of a square is increasing at a rate of 5 cm/s. At what rate (in cm2/s) is the area of the square increasing when the a
Naddika [18.5K]

The area of the square increasing at 30 \frac{cm^{2} }{sec}

The rate of change function is defined as the rate at which one quantity is changing with respect to another quantity. In simple terms, in the rate of change, the amount of change in one item is divided by the corresponding amount of change in another

Let the side of a square be x.

So,

Area of square = x^{2}

A =x^{2}

Differentiating with respect to time we get,

dA/dt = 2x dx/dt

When area = 9 cm^{2} the side becomes 3 cm

At x = 3cm and dx/dt = 5 cm/s (Given)

dA/dt = 2.3.5 = 30 \frac{cm^{2} }{sec}

Thus the area of the square increasing at 30 \frac{cm^{2} }{sec}

Find the surface area of a cylinder with a base radius of 2 yd and a height of 3 yd.
kherson [118]

Answer:

20 π

Step-by-step explanation:

The surface area of a cylinder is made up of 2 circles and its side.

To find the circles' areas, use the area formula for a circle: A = πr^2.

Since our radius is 2 yd, we can substitute r = 2 into this formula.

A = π2^2 = 4π

Now remember, this is only the area of once circle. Multiply 4π by 2 to get the area of both circles: 8π.

Now we need to find the surface area of the side.

If we flatten it out, we can see that the side is actually a curled up rectangle.

The length is the circumference of the circle and the width is the height of the cylinder.

To find the circumference, use the circumference formula for a circle: C = 2πr.

Substitute r = 2 into the formula.

C = 2π2 = 4π

Now that we know that the length is 4π, we can multiply the length by the width to find the area of the cylinder's side.

l = 4π

w = 3

A = lw = 4π * 3 = 12π

Finally, we can add the areas of the circles and the side to get the total surface area.

8π + 12π = 20π

And that is your answer!
