Answer:

B) The concept of the social contract encouraged French peasants to overthrow their unfair government and form a new one.

Explanation:

The Enlightenment was a cultural and intellectual movement, primarily European, that began in the mid-eighteenth century and lasted until the early nineteenth century. It was named in this way for its declared purpose of dissipating the darkness of the ignorance of humanity through the lights of knowledge and reason. The eighteenth-century is known, for this reason, as the Age of Enlightenment and settlement of faith in progress. It inspired profound cultural and social changes, and one of the most dramatic was the French Revolution. Enlightenment thinkers and philosophers, like John Locke, Montesquieu, Rousseau, and Voltaire, established the basic arguments for modern democracy and the people's right to participate in politics. The concept of the social contract and the idea that political power was a result of a social agreement among the citizens was a direct threat to absolute monarchy and the concept of divine right to rule. For this reason, these new ideas led French commoners to overthrow the monarchy during the events of the French Revolution.

oksian1 [2.3K]

Answer: Checks and balances.

Explanation: The whole point of establishing a system of checks and balances was to prevent one of the branches of government from getting too powerful. In order to prevent this, each branch of government has the power to stop another branch of government in the event that they are abusing their powers. In the executive branch (the president), this includes the ability to veto bills. In the judicial branch (Supreme Court), this includes the power to declare an action unconstitutional. And in the legislative branch (Congress/Senate), they have the power of impeachment.

Passed in 1992, the 27th Amendment prevents Congress from raising its pay during the same term . What is unusual about this amen
Nookie1986 [14]

Answer:

The 27th Amendment to the Constitution was first proposed in 1789 by the 1st Congress to the state to be ratified. It was proposed with other 10 amendments to the Constitution but lacking the number of votes necessary, it did not pass like its others sister amendments to become what is today known as the Bill of Rights. It took about more than 200 years until 1992, after a campaign was started by University of Texas at Austin student Joe Watson in 1982. This amendment prohibited the increase or decrease of a congressman´s salary within a term in office. If there is to be a reduction or increment in the income perceived by a congress member, this must take effect only until the following terms office. (The answer is that it was first proposed more than 200 years before it was ratified).
