\frac{4}{6}= \frac{t}{30}   \\  \\ 120=6t \\  \\ 20=t

It would take Tom 20 seconds.

\frac{3}{5}= \frac{d}{30}   \\  \\ 90=5d \\  \\ d=18

It would take Diane 18 seconds.

Diane would get to 30 yards first.

You can compare their speeds by finding the unit rate. To do this, you have to divide the yards by the seconds.

\frac{6}{4}=1.5 \\  \\  \frac{5}{3}= 1.67

Tom can run 1.5 yards in 1 second and Diane can run 1.67 yards in 1 second.

Diane runs faster.

on Monday Steven read 9 pages of his new book to finish the first chapter on Tuesday he needs to read double the number of pages
GarryVolchara [31]
Answer=18 pages

Steven read 9 pages on Monday. If he needs to read DOUBLE that amount on Tuesday, then we need to take the number of pages he read on Monday and times it by 2.

9*2=18pages

Steven needs to read 18 pages on Tuesday.

**Remember that Double is the same as 'two times more', or 2x more...

Factorise: 5(2^n)+2^n+2
marin [14]

Answer:

2 ( n + 2 ) ( n + 1 2 )

Step-by-step explanation:

coefficient of the first term:

2 = 2 × 1

coefficient of the last term:

2 = 2 × 1

coefficient of the middle term (using only the factors above):

5 = 2 × 2 + 1 × 1

2 n 2 + 5 n + 2 = ( 2 n + 1 ) ( n + 2 )

Alternative method:

Treat the given expression as a quadratic set equal to zero, with the form

a n 2 + b n + c

and use the quadratic formula

− b ± √ b 2 − 4 a c 2 a

This will given solutions

n = − 2  and  n = − 1 2

for a factoring

2 ( n + 2 ) ( n + 1 2 )

Hope this helped
