, freeing him. Some parts of the shell floated into the air, forming the heavens, while the rest of the shell formed the earth below. Pangu placed himself between the earth (yin) and the sky (yang). He grew ten feet per day for 18,000 years, increasing the distance between heaven and earth. Upon Pangu’s death, the world and its elements were formed. His breath became the wind and clouds, his voice formed thunder and lightning, his eyes turned into the sun and moon, his limbs became the four compass directions, his torso transformed into mountains, his flesh became soil and trees, his bones became rocks and minerals, his blood flowed into rivers, and his sweat was rain.

“Pangu grew inside an egg, then hatched into a giant creature, releasing shells that formed the sky and earth. After Pangu died, he became the world and its elements.” best summarizes the passage. It describes how Pangu came to be as well as how the world and its elements were formed.

Gnoma [55]

Answer:

Pahom's ambition for land led to his death, but the only land he needed was the one he was buried in. This can be used to infer the claim that ambition leads to ruin.

Explanation:

"How Much Land Does A Man Need" was written by Leo Tolstoy and tells the story of Pahom, a peasant who had little land and many debts to pay, as well as having little money. He would very much like to own more land and one day he said "if I had plenty of land, I should not fear the Devil himself!"

The devil heard this and accepted the challenge, allowing Pahom to have access to unimaginable amounts of land. This allowed him to work hard and have enough money for everything, including buying more land. However, Pahom became a greedy and aggressive man who only cared about getting more wealth. One day, he walked many kilometers in the sun to be able to buy more land. However, prolonged exposure to the sun caused him to die. After he died, all Pahom's wealth became obsolete and the only land he needed was the one in which he was buried.

What is the purpose of a counterargument in a persuasive text?
MrRa [10]
A counter argument is necessary, in order to show one's audience that one has taken into account the opposing opinion/thesis of the argument but still sides with their opinion/thesis; it allows the writer to once again prove their thesis.
